Page 2 of 5 2. When stories just don’t add up. You find your partner is not where was expected to be. When you ask for explanation, he/she just can’t explain missing time. Next time you accidentally find out your spouse took a vacation day or personal time off from work, but supposedly worked on those days. In his pocket you find receipts for things you don't have – or is something suddenly missing, perhaps clothing or some jewelry? Being caught in little lies about the details of the day? Your spouse is away from home more than previously?
3. Long-time and regular work habits change. All of a sudden, he/she is working late? Going to work at odd hours? Claims (without any reasonable explanation) that now is required to work after hours, and puts in more time than is normal on work related issues? It’s usually not a good sign if your spouse suddenly starts working a lot of hours or taking a lot of business trips.
4. A sudden need for privacy. The two of you used to share some things openly, and now suddenly they become private. Your partner begins closing doors when you are around, when before he or she would leave them open. Cheaters often close bathroom doors (although they used to leave them open), in that way distancing themselves physically and psychologically from their partners. Maybe they begin hiding cell phone and credit card bills. If you ask why, or attempt to find out information that used to be common knowledge between the two of you, you will be accused of snooping or trying to control your spouse.
